Julia Behm, MA, CCC-SLP

Julia has been practicing speech therapy since 1978. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire (1976) and the University of Minnesota – Duluth (1978), she moved to Iowa for her first job with the AEA in Fort Dodge. From 1978 to 1989 Julia worked with children in Iowa and Nebraska. In 1991 Julia changed the focus of her career to the medical setting. She finds great satisfaction in helping the adult population whether in the nursing home environment, outpatient clinics, home health care or the regional hospitals in Storm Lake and Cherokee. She particularly enjoys swallowing therapy, aphasia and cognitive therapy as a result of stroke or traumatic brain injury. She is also proficient in helping the speech of patients who have apraxia or dysarthria. She is an active member in the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association and the Iowa Speech and Hearing Association.
